It all started when…
Michael Warren was born on March 5, 1946 in South Bend, Indiana. He attended UCLA, and played on the 1968 team that was selected as the all time best college basketball team ever, and was chosen an All American that year. He was coached by the legendary John Wooden, who was picked by sportwriters as the greatest basketball coach in any sport. Wooden called Michael Warren the smartest basketball player he had ever coached. “He was my coach on the floor.” After graduating, Warren appeared in several films and television shows before landing his career-defining role on the popular Emmy Award winning TV drama, Hill Street Blues. He was nominated for an Emmy, and won the NAACP Best Actor in the television series for his portrayal of police office, Bobby Hill.
He fell in love with photography while at UCLA but it wasn't until after graduation that he began shooting professional commercial head shots for actors. He also photographed the Jackson Five at a Los Angeles concert that appeared in the Los Angeles Times, which he received a by-line. Over the years, he shot less commercially, and as his family grew, he began concentrating more on photographing it. In 2015, an internal voice said to him, "Look Up!" It was the first time he noticed the incredible cloud formations and they made a lasting impression on him. He began "chasing clouds" all over the city, searching for the right vantage point to get the perfect photograph. Since then, Michael has developed a creative style that takes his photos from being photographs to art works.
Michael is married to his wife, Jenny, for over 30 years. They have two children, Grayson and Makayla, and he has two children, Koa and Cash, from a previous marriage. Michael and Jenny have six grandchildren, Renzo, Nea, Honor, Haven, Hayes, and Alani.
